The Restoration Programme

With 90% of funds raised to fund a major restoration, contractors have been able to start an 18 month building, landscape and monument restoration program which is due to complete in October 2009.  The work includes the East Lodge (the West Lodge is complete and now open), Anglican and Non conformist chapels, listed monuments and some of the paths and walls around the Cemetery.  The East Lodge will become the reception area and shop and will contain office accommodation and a meeting room to hire.  The West Lodge opposite will offer exhibition space and office accommodation.  Within the Non conformist chapel and new glass pavilion, will be an education centre, cafe and interpretation corridor for the crematorium furnaces.  The Anglican chapel will offer a beautiful and quality meeting space.

Landscape management is a gradual process over a number of years to ensure protection of the valuable wildlife habitats and retain the charm of the natural landscape.
