During the campaign to save the cemetery, Northcliffe Newspapers - owners of the Bristol Evening Post - stepped in and generously purchased, then donated, the Arnos Vale Crematorium Books of Remembrance - each containing personal messages and memories by people who knew the deceased.

These books have since been restored and while they are too fragile to be handled, two of the five are on display at the cemetery's West Lodge from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 1pm, on Saturdays, or at other times by prior arrangement.  They can also be viewed online.

In addition, new Books of Remembrance have been opened, enabling further permanent hand-written tributes to be recorded - for instance, by the descendants of people buried in unmarked plots, present day admirers of past figures, or for people who have strong associations with Arnos Vale but are buried or cremated elsewhere.  To find out how to add an entry, please download the form on this page to see the choices and prices, or visit the West Lodge.
