Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust runs the only fully-restored Victorian "garden cemetery", covering 45 acres, overflowing with stories, monuments and wildlife, all set in a stunning landscape. Following a £5m project to restore its historic grounds, monuments and buildings, the Trust has entered into the next stage which is to develop a sustainable organisation to maintain and develop the potential of this unique site. The cemetery is a special environment offering something for everyone. As well as being a beautiful working cemetery it provides insights into the social and economic history of Bristol since it opened in 1839. Arnos Vale has 25 listed buildings and monuments of great historic, artistic and social interest and is a popular urban green visitor space and a site of Special Nature Conservation interest. Vacancy for Estates Ground Person The role of the Estates Grounds Person will be to directly support the Estates Manager in delivering the Arnos Vale Cemetery Landscape Management Plan. The successful candidate will have recent experience in groundwork involving a variety of tasks and be able to carry out on site maintenance of tools and landscaping equipment. You will also be responsible for carrying out regular health and safety checks of the buildings and estate as well as appropriate risk assessments. Arnos Vale Cemetery relies on its many volunteers and you will use your well developed supervision skills to support them in carrying out a range of practical landscaping tasks. This is a busy and challenging role and you will be a member of a very small staff team so your ability to work as part of a team and also independently is critical.
