Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust runs the only fully-restored Victorian "garden cemetery", covering 45 acres, overflowing with stories, monuments and wildlife, all set in a stunning landscape. Following a £5m project to restore its historic grounds, monuments and buildings, the Trust is ready for the next stage of developing a sustainable organisation to maintain and develop the potential of this unique site. The cemetery is a special environment offering something for everyone; a beautiful cemetery offering services for honouring and remembering the dead; insights into the social and economic history of Bristol since it opened in 1839; 25 listed buildings and monuments of great historic, artistic and social interest; a popular urban green visitor space and a site of Special Nature Conservation interest; all just a short distance from the city centre. THE ROLE: Arnos Vale Cemetery occupies a highly-valued place in the hearts of thousands of people in Bristol and beyond. As our next Chief Executive you will be joining us at an exciting time; with many opportunities to grow the role and the organisation at this formative stage. You will lead us in developing our various initiatives for sustainable income generation and help shape the future of this incredible place. The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent with three years experience as a senior manager. They will also have experience of financial management, knowledge of generating income and experience of delivering results. With good entrepreneurial skills and the ability to develop and maintain external networks at senior levels they will have the drive and enthusiasm to lead the organisation. They will relish the chance to grasp the tremendous opportunities to establish a sound financial future. They will have excellent interpersonal skills to lead our small and motivated staff team to create a sustainable social enterprise. Salary: The salary for this role is £35,000-£40,000 depending upon experience.
