In this entertaining and informative talk, Dave Napier takes a virtual tour through parts of the Arnos Vale landscape and tell stories (mostly true!) about some of the residents in the cemetery.

Designed to be an introduction to Arnos Vale's history and its value to Bristol today, this is the first time that Dave's popular specialist talk has been given within the grounds of Arnos Vale itself.

Learn about the historical background, cemetery development and advice about family history research in cemeteries.

Meet the speaker

Dave was born in Bristol. Since childhood he has been fascinated by all aspects of the history of his City and a traditional education was unable to dampen his enthusiasm!

Gerry-Brooks-BEP-Friends He joined "The Friends of Arnos Vale Cemetery" in 2004, after the group's successful campagin to save the Cemetery. As a volunteer at Arnos Vale he gets involved with a wide range of activities including the research, development and conducting of heritage tours and talks about the cemetery and more recently, Dave has become a Trustee of Arnos Vale Cemetery. He is also an active member of Bristol & Avon Family History Society.

Tickets are £7 each or £5 concession (OAPs, Guardian Angel Members). You can purchase your tickets by visiting Arnos Vale - please go to the Gift Shop, which is located in the East Lodge building, to the left of the main entrance on Bath Road. The Gift Shop is open every day from 10:00am-4:00pm.

This event will be held in the Anglican Chapel. Please dress warmly. The licensed bar will be open from 6:30pm and will also be serving tea and coffee.
