| Armistice Day Remembrance |

Join our annual Armistice Day event at the Great War Memorial in Arnos Vale. FREE entry, all are welcome. At Soldier's Corner (directions will be available from the East Lodge - the building to the left as you enter the main gates from the Bath Road). At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month 2011, children from Hillcrest primary, St Annes’ juniors and St Annes Park primary will join visitors, staff and volunteers at Arnos Vale’s Great War Memorial - ninety years on from the memorial’s dedication - to mark the ending of the Great War ninety-three years ago. With an introduction from Rev. Carol White, the service will include readings by the school children, followed by sounding of the last post, laying of wreaths and two minutes’ silence. The service will be attended by standard bearers of the British Royal Legion, representatives from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and a bugler from the University of Bristol. Other events on Remembrance weekend include an evening talk on Friday 11th November 7.30pm “Dying Well in the Middle Ages” and the War Graves Guided Tour on Saturday 12th November, 10.30am. |
