Arnos Vale Cemetery is delighted to have on show in the Spielman Centre: "Some More Who Have Made Bristol Famous", a new painting for the city of Bristol. Join us at Arnos Vale to pay tribute to great Bristolians including Alfred the Gorilla, Wallace and Grommit, Beryl Cook and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Sneaky peak of the painting - Rajah Rammohun Roy & Mary Carpenter These are just a few of those celebrated in a new painting Some More Who Have Made Bristol Famous, a piece commissioned by the Bristol Cultural Development Partnership and including public nominations from Bristolians of those people and icons they feel have made the city famous. Renowned local artist Simon Gurr has created the work, which incorporates 40 Bristol people, and some of the city's iconic and cultural landmarks. The painting includes Rajah Rammohun Roy and Mary Carpenter, both of whom are remembered in Arnos Vale Cemetery. The painting is available to view seven days a week and can be found hanging in the Spielman Centre, located next to our cafe that is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that this room is often used for private bookings for educational school visits or workshops so there may be times when the painting is unavailable for viewing by the general public. Entry is free of charge. |
