Cemetery Services
Arnos Vale Cemetery services include regular burials, interments and scattering of ashes in one of the gardens of rest or wooded locations. Great care is being taken to maintain a respectful atmosphere with more private areas for reflection and remembrance. New burial plots will be released each year and there are new opportunities for cremation plots and remembrance including the new wall of remembrance. The beautifully restored Victorian chapel is available for hire and we offer a range of cemetery services including grave tidying and family record searches.

There are over 150,000 graves here with new burial plots being released on a limited basis each year. Alongside this we are developing new areas for cremation plots and interment for ashes and enclaves around the site for reflection and contemplation, including contemporary memorial art installations. The opportunities for Woodland scattering of ashes and support of the wildlife at Arnos Vale are increasing and include the purchase of bird and bat boxes.

Arnos Vale maintains digitally scanned records of all burials and cremations from 1839 to August 2003. These and the more recent records can be manually searched by our trained staff to find information about the deceased, who else is buried in the grave the location of the grave and other interesting information such as the person's occupation or last address. To request a Family Record Search, please print off and complete a form or complete one of the online forms available below. A multiple record search package for genealogists will be available later in 2010. Contact us here for more details.

From the 1960s for around 50 years this 45-acre cemetery was allowed to fall into serious disrepair. Whilst brambles and ivy took root on the ground, sycamore and ash saplings were allowed to grow densely often taking root in graves. Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust offer a Grave Tidy Service providing an access route to the grave, clearing the grave and keeping it tidy ensuring that the work is carried out without damage to the grave and without harming the wildlife. Families are responsible for the maintenance of the grave itself. Read more about the service on offer below or arrange a Grave Tidy service now.

Grave stones are no longer the only way to create a lasting memorial to a loved one. At Arnos Vale, a suite of enduring tributes are available including entry into the new Books of Remembrance, dedicated timber bench or memorial wall plaque on the new wall of remembrance. We are also in the process of creating a new columbarium in the crypt of the Chapel where urns of ashes can be safely placed alongside interments of past Lords Mayors.
