Heraldic Symbols Stone-CArving Workshop

Carve a Tudor Rose!

Half-day workshop to carve a heraldic symbol in stone.

The Victorians loved all things Gothic, a style inspired by the carvings and symbols of medieval heraldry, and their Gothic Revival crests, crockets and caskets can be found on display in Arnos Vale.

Take inspiration from these atmospheric surroundings to carve a heraldic symbol such as a Tudor Rose or Fleur de Lis in stone to take home.  Learn how to use traditional hand tools and techniques under the expert guidance of artist and stonemason Tanya Josham, in this perfect beginners' course for budding sculptors.  Tea breaks are included in the half-day ticket.

This event is physically active so please wear sensible shoes and warm clothes you're happy to get mucky.  Please note that this event requires a minimum number of participants to run.  We regret that we cannot exchange, refund or transfer tickets unless the event in question has been cancelled or rescheduled by Arnos Vale.#

Tickets are £36 per person.

To reduce our overheads and improve the booking process, we have moved to an on-line booking system for events at Arnos Vale. If you have any problems booking your tickets, please contact us on 0117 971 9117

The Underwood Centre

Join us at Arnos Vale Cemetery's new Underwood Centre, your base for today's workshop.  Built in an area formerly known as "the compound" the Underwood Centre is a beautiful reclaimed timber-framed building with compost toilet, fire-pit and outdoor seating.

The centre hosts a wide range of woodland based activities for adults, families, schools and volunteer groups alike, and is available for hire.

Arts & Crafts

Arnos Vale will be holding a series of arts and crafts workshops throughout the year from drawing & painting workshops through to bird box making and family activities. Based in the Anglican Chapel or inside the Spielman Centre there are many activities and workshops coming up for you to join this year!
